Two of Our Favorite Transfer Bonuses: Double the Virgin Points, Double the Fun!

ree

The points-and-miles world just gifted us a phenomenal treat! For a limited time, both American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards are offering incredible transfer bonuses to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

This is a phenomenal opportunity to turbo-charge your points balance and unlock some of the best-value redemptions in the entire travel landscape. If you've been sitting on a stash of Amex or Chase points, now is the time to make those bucket-list trips a reality!

The Virgin Points Bonus Breakdown

Right now, you can take advantage of two fantastic, simultaneous offers. The 40% bonus from Amex is particularly strong—one of the highest we see—making your Membership Rewards points extremely valuable for the rest of the year!

Current Virgin Atlantic Transfer Bonuses:

  • American Express Membership Rewards

    • 40% bonus

    • Transfer: 1,000 Amex points → 1,400 Virgin Points

    • Ends: December 31, 2025

    • Notes: One of the strongest Amex bonuses we ever see!

  • Chase Ultimate Rewards

    • 30% bonus

    • Transfer: 1,000 Chase points → 1,300 Virgin Points

    • Ends: December 5, 2025

    • Notes: A fantastic way to stretch your Chase points farther! Chase had an “early bird” 40% bonus live through ~Nov 20; after that it dropped to 30%.

*Transfer ratio references the bonus-applied rate (i.e., inclusive of bonus points).

Why Virgin Points Are Golden Right Now

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is an often-overlooked program that truly shines due to its valuable partner redemptions. When you combine a strong transfer bonus with a great redemption rate, you can achieve world-class travel for a fraction of the cost.

Global Access via SkyTeam & Beyond

Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club program allows you to book award tickets on a wide network of partner airlines, including the entire SkyTeam Alliance (like Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM), plus other key carriers such as All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Air New Zealand. (The Points Guy)

Some of the Most Popular Ways to Maximise Virgin Points:

  • The Ultimate ANA Business Class “Sweet Spot”: One of the most talked-about redemptions! For example, redeeming ANA business class from the U.S. West Coast to Japan, one-way, can cost ~52,500 Virgin Points. (AwardWallet)

    • With the 40% Amex bonus, you’d only need to transfer ~37,500 Amex points (52,500 ÷ 1.4 ≈ 37,500). (Your original “32,143” appears too low — I could not confirm the 45,000-point rate currently for that U.S.-to-Japan route. According to updated sources it is around 52,500 for business class one-way from Western U.S. to Japan.) (One Mile at a Time)

  • Fly Delta for Cheap: You can use Virgin Points to book Delta flights, often at rates much lower than Delta’s own SkyMiles program. For example, short-haul domestic flights start at ~7,500 Virgin Points one-way (during certain award deals). (NerdWallet)

  • Fly Virgin Atlantic Upper Class to Europe: For flights on Virgin Atlantic’s own metal (U.S. → UK), you can sometimes find a lie-flat Upper Class seat from the U.S. East Coast to London for as low as ~47,500 Virgin Points (off-peak). (UpgradedPoints.com)

    • With the 40% Amex bonus, that’s ~33,929 Amex points (47,500 ÷ 1.4 ≈ 33,929). Good math there in your draft.

🤩 Our Redemption Story: SFO → London for less than a Domestic economy ticket!

The most exciting part of these transfer bonuses is how they make aspirational travel attainable. We experienced this firsthand last year when we locked in an incredible deal that still makes us smile.

We were planning a trip from San Francisco (SFO) to London Heathrow (LHR). At the time, the cash price for Premium Economy tickets was astronomical due to their rise in recent popularity, but we found an amazing reward-seat sale directly on Virgin Atlantic’s site. Thanks to a previous points transfer and Virgin Atlantic SALE, we booked four Premium Economy seats one-way for just 16,500 Virgin Points each!

For a nearly 10-hour flight, getting a spacious Premium Economy seat with enhanced service for less than an average domestic economy award ticket was a total steal. This is the power of being ready to leverage a transfer bonus!

Your Next Steps

These transfer bonuses are your cue to check your balances and map out your next adventure:

  • Check the Offer: Log into your Amex Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards portals to see the 40% (Amex) and 30% (Chase) bonus offers.

  • Look for Partner Sweet Spots: Use the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club site (or partner award-search tools) to research award space on ANA, Delta, Air France, or KLM. Make sure you find confirmed seats before transferring points.

  • Transfer (Carefully!): Transfers are typically irreversible. Only transfer the points you need after confirming that your desired award seats are available.

  • Book Quickly: Once points transfer, award seats may vanish and program changes (or devaluations) could happen. Virgin Atlantic has a history of changes. (Frequent Miler)

Happy travels, Resort Chasers! Don’t let this opportunity fly by.

Additional Cautions & Notes

  • Although transferring points is tempting, remember that award availability in premium cabins (especially partner carriers like ANA) can be very limited.

  • Taxes, fuel surcharges, and carrier-imposed fees can add up – especially for flights via the UK or on British carriers. Always check the total cost.

  • While you’ve done well emphasising the value, it might help to mention that redemption rates can vary and Virgin Atlantic’s program is more dynamic for its own flights.

  • Ensure you’re signed up for Virgin Atlantic Flying Club before transferring points so you can transfer into your account seamlessly.

  • Because points transfers are final, it remains best practice to have award availability in hand before moving large point balances.
